Piera was delivered to the Hinckley Company yard in Southwest Harbor, ME over Labor Day weekend, 2001. Between September, 2001 and May, 2002 the skilled craftspeople at Hinckley performed a complete structural and cosmetic restoration of Piera. Great care was taken to preserve her original German craftsmenship and to emphasize the years of dedicated sailing embodied in her "patina". At the same time, no expense was spared to address any structural problems (including some such as the leaking forefoot that have been with Piera since her original construction) and to completely update the systems and infrastructure of the boat (e.g. power, instrumentation, wiring, plumbing, etc.).
